FORGE Dump valve for SUBARU Impreza from 1996 to 2000

What is the purpose and how does a dump valve work?

The dump valve is an element that allows to control the supercharging.
When your Turbo is running at high speed and providing supercharging, it cannot stop or even slow down very quickly because the intake system is still full of air under pressure.
Since the pressure cannot go anywhere, it is pushed back into the compressor and tries to turn the wheel in the opposite direction, producing a pressure peak that is harmful to the compressor.
The relief valve is mounted on the inlet pipe and contains a spring diaphragm or piston that lifts when it detects a pressure increase.
As soon as the air is released within a second, you have finished shifting gears and the boost resumes, almost without interruption !
