Dump valve (intercooler mount)
What is a dump valve used for and how does it work?
The dump valve is an element that controls the supercharging.
When your Turbo is running at high speed and provides supercharging, it cannot stop or even slow down very quickly because the intake system is still full of pressurised air.
Since the pressure can't go anywhere, it is forced back into the compressor and tries to turn the wheel in the opposite direction, producing a pressure spike that is harmful to the compressor.
The relief valve is mounted on the inlet pipe and contains a spring-loaded diaphragm or piston that lifts when it senses an increase in pressure.
As soon as the air is released for one second, you are finished shifting gears and the boost resumes, virtually without interruption!
