Sale of 4-point harnesses
Oreca-store.com offers you a collection of 4-point harnesses designed by the biggest brands of automotive equipment: OMP, Sparco, Sabelt or Turn One... With their FIA 8854-98 approval, 4-point harnesses are essential for competition as are ECE / EEC certified harnesses for trackdays.
4-point harness regulation
In national and regional events, FIA standard 8854-98 harnesses (valid until 31/12/2019) are authorised provided that they are modified to 5 or 6 straps, that each strap bears the same homologation, that the letter C or D is mentioned on the label of each strap of the harness. 5-strap harness with letter C. 6-strap harness with letter D. The year of approval of the added straps must be equal to or greater than the year in which the approval of the 4-strap harness ends.
What are 4-point harnesses for?
The harness is an essential piece of equipment to ensure the safety of the rider. In the event of a collision or impact, the harness prevents the rider from being thrown around and presses him or her against the seat, ensuring that the rider is held in place. The more attachment points, the safer the harness is for the rider, with the strongest harnesses being 5 or 6 point harnesses. A four-point harness is a safe piece of equipment, but in competition, regulations and safety concerns may lead you to five or six-point harnesses.
When should I change my 4-point harness?
The regulatory life span of a four-point harness is five years. This should not be exceeded, otherwise your main safety equipment will be weakened. In the event of an accident, as the harness is used exceptionally, it should be replaced even if its service life has not been completed.
