Forged connecting rod for PEUGEOT 106 Rallye
Saenz connecting rods are machined using leading-edge equipment. They are made to measure for each customer, regardless of the quantity required.
Each part is checked and tested as part of a process to refine a highly accurate quality test.
These connecting rods have been put to the test during the Daytona 24 Hours, in WRC, on the Paris-Dakar and during boat races across the globe.
The rods are forged to obtain the best possible metal properties and then treated to regenerate the metal's molecular structure and facilitate machining.
The rod weight is checked after machining. Polishing, shot peening and rotor finishing are used to eliminate any machining marks .
The rods then undergo heat treatment to give them their final hardness.
The rods are then grooved and drilled. Then the pin bushing location is honed and the bronze bushing is installed at this part of the processed.
The rods are balanced within +/- 1gram. Once honed, the threads are tapped and tested with temporary rod bolts. The length of the final bolts is resized and inspected before they are added to the package, ready to ship.
Saenz standard tolerance is +/-0.00025 at the big end.
After visual inspection, the rods are then inspected using a three-dimensional measuring machine.
Rods are given a flash of protective oil and are packed with a card containing unique dimensional and weight information.
