What are the silent blocks for?

Silent blocks are small parts that play an essential role in keeping your car in good shape. They reduce the noise caused by the vibrations of the different parts of your car, and they also serve to link certain parts, such as the shock absorber and the chassis, and prevent the parts from breaking.

With good quality silent blocks, you can improve handling and road holding thanks to parts that are rigid enough to withstand the stresses experienced. Equipping your car with polyurethane silent blocks is therefore essential for racing and rally drivers. Some ranges available on Oreca-Store are dedicated to this use. You can browse our products to check their compatibility.

When to change the silent blocks?

With use, the rubber bushes wear out and their thickness decreases. Rubber bushes wear out more quickly because they are softer and the rubber can dry out as it ages and is subject to external influences such as the weather. This is why it may be worthwhile to invest in polyurethane bushes.

As a general rule, the sagging of the soft part of the silent block should not exceed 2 or 3mm. For original silent blocks, the rule is that they should be changed every 80,000 km or so.

Rubber silent block or polyurethane silent block?

Although rubber silent blocks are more affordable, they have a shorter life span due to a more fragile material that is more sensitive to hazards. The choice of material should therefore be made on the basis of your vehicle. For normal use of your car, rubber silent blocks may be sufficient. But if you want to improve your driving comfort or if you are aiming for a high performance drive in racing or rallying for example, polyurethane silent blocks are really relevant.

So don't hesitate any longer and browse through our shop to discover all the silent blocks that we have tested and selected for you!
