    What are the brake discs for?

    Attached to the wheel hub, the brake disc slows down the wheel when it comes into contact with the brake pads. The friction between these two parts has the effect of braking the rotation of the disc and therefore the wheel. Prior to this, the brake caliper responds to the braking demand of the brake pedal by pressing the brake pads against the disc.

    Since the disc and pads are responsible for making contact, they wear out more quickly than other parts and must be changed regularly to ensure good braking. Discs made of quality materials can have a longer life and avoid overheating under heavy loads.
