Spark plug NGK Racing reference R5724-10 for PEUGEOT 205 1.8 T16 (Kit) or RENAULT R5 Alpine Turbo 840.726

Choose the right spark plug according to electrode design, spark plug temperature, engine readiness and racing conditions.
Spark plugs with a high temperature rating have superior cooling capabilities.
NGK racing spark plugs have been developed for use in engines that have been modified. They provide maximum power under specific outdoor conditions, especially at high ambient temperatures.
NGK racing spark plugs differ from standard spark plugs in appearance and performance. They sacrifice durability and performance at low speeds in favor of high speeds.

How to choose your NGK racing spark plug

1. Spark plug design: To determine the spark plug design, consult your vehicle manual or the specifications of the spark plugs you are using to check: thread, diameter, length and spark plug washer seal characteristics.

2. Spark plug electrode design: The longer the electrode, the better the spark and ignition of the mixture within the cylinder. Longer electrodes are more subject to wear. The heat and vibration stress on racing engines is the reason why it is advisable to choose an electrode design that reduces the risk of wear.
Projected type
Almost similar to the electrode of a standard spark plug, these spark plugs give good overall performance for slightly modified and atmospheric engines as well as for turbo engines for low and mid-range torque.

Square ground type
This type of electrode provides superior performance for turbo engines. The short electrode is much more resistant to the impacts of the explosion.

Half-surface type
It's the ultimate spark plug configuration. Virtually all ground electrode cracks and positive electrode melting problems are avoided with this type of spark plug. Service life and performance at low rpm are reduced.

3. Spark plug temperature: It is very important to choose the temperature index that keeps the electrode at an ideal operating temperature even under extreme running conditions. A high index does not provide better performance, it simply improves the spark plug's ability to dissipate heat.

4. Resistors: Due to automatic spark advance control systems, there are differences in performance between spark plugs with and without resistors. Therefore, some engines require resistor spark plugs depending on the model to avoid engine problems.
