All the exhaust systems of passenger car must receive European approval before being fitted to a cehicle which is driving on the public highway. This approval takes the form of an European "E" approval number which is either engraved straight onto the exhaust or marked on a plate welded to the exhaust body. It has to be put on a part where it is clearly visible without dismantling the different parts.
