Sale of Ferodo brake fluid
Brake fluid has an important function in the braking system. It helps to stop the vehicle when the brake pedal is applied. When neglected or of poor quality, this fluid can cause your vehicle's brakes to fail. Oreca Store offers you a wide selection of Ferodo brake fluid. Our products are high performance with an excellent quality/price ratio.
What is the purpose of Ferodo brake fluid?
Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid that is essential for the proper functioning of a car's brakes. Developed by the Ferodo brand, brake fluid is used to transmit power to the braking system when the driver presses the brake pedal. During braking, this incompressible fluid spreads throughout the hydraulic circuit and the car's braking system to allow the car to slow down or stop. The force released when the brake pedal is applied is first transferred to a vacuum brake booster. It then reaches the Ferodo brake pads, which in turn apply pressure to the individual wheels of the car to bring it to a stop.
As with other types of fluids required for a vehicle, Ferodo brake fluid should be checked regularly (preferably quarterly) and changed as required. As a hygroscopic liquid, this type of fluid has the ability to absorb moisture from the air. This absorption of ambient moisture causes the boiling point to drop. The boiling point drops from 230°C to 130°C. This can affect the quality of Ferodo brake fluid and reduce its performance.
Repeated over-braking causes gas bubbles to form and mix with the brake fluid. This can damage the brakes and reduce your car's ability to brake. This type of fluid also deteriorates over time. To keep your Ferodo brake fluid performing and braking efficiently, it is recommended that you bleed it every two years or 50,000 kilometres.
What are the different types of Ferodo brakes?
Ferodo brake fluids are stamped with the DOT (Department of Transportation) mark. This means that the product complies with current safety standards. The mark is accompanied by numbers indicating the temperature at which the fluid boils. There are different types of brake fluid such as DOT 4, DOT 5 and DOT 5.1. DOT 4 brake fluid, for example, is formulated on the basis of glycol with an average dry boiling point of 230 °C and a wet boiling point of 155 °C.
DOT 5.1 brake fluid has an average boiling point of 265°C and a wet boiling point of 185°C. It is also formulated with glycol and has a much lower viscosity than DOT 4. It is also formulated with a glycol base and has a much lower viscosity than DOT 4. This product is more suitable for sports cars.
